How to use RMBG

  2. Wait while RMBG identifies the subject and removes the background on your Mac.
  3. Drag the divider to review the result, then save a transparent PNG or copy it to the clipboard.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?
No. Apple Vision and Core Image perform recognition and compositing locally on your Mac.

Which systems are supported?
RMBG requires macOS 14 or later.

Why wasn’t a subject detected?
Images with a distinct subject, clear edges, and stronger foreground-to-background contrast usually work best.

What is the output format?
Saved and copied results preserve transparency. Saved files use PNG.
