kBookmarks

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 2026

Introduction

Welcome to the privacy policy for kBookmarks, a Chrome extension designed to help you mark and recall long-tail bookmarks effortlessly. We deeply respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This document outlines our data handling practices and explains why our extension is inherently safe and private.

Data Collection & Local Storage

Zero Remote Tracking: kBookmarks does not collect, transmit, or share any of your personal data, browsing history, or bookmark contents to our servers or any third-party services. We operate entirely offline by default.

Local Storage Only: All data processed by this extension—including your existing bookmarks, newly added tags, and comments—is stored strictly on your device. We utilize your browser's native IndexedDB and Extension Storage APIs to save your data locally. You remain in absolute control of your information.

Extension Permissions Justification

To function seamlessly as a bookmark manager, kBookmarks requires the following browser permissions. None of these permissions are used to extract data from your device.

No Third-Party Analytics

We believe your browsing tools shouldn't spy on you. kBookmarks does not integrate any third-party analytics, telemetry, trackers, or advertising SDKs. Your usage patterns and bookmark habits are completely private.

User Control & Open Source

Since all data is stored locally on your machine, you can delete or wipe your data anytime simply by uninstalling the extension or clearing the extension's local data from your Chrome settings. Furthermore, kBookmarks is an open-source project. Anyone can audit the source code to verify these privacy claims.

Changes to This Policy

As we add new features to kBookmarks, we may update this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Because we do not collect your contact information, we cannot notify you individually, so please review this page periodically.
